A Place of Learners, Leaders and Women of Faith and Justice
Providence High School was established in 1951 as a private all girls school for faith based education. We became Providence Catholic School in 2005 when we expanded to include middle school grades in out Catholic preparatory school. We are one of the private schools downtown, situated on historically significant property in San Antonio, TX.
Today, Providence is an accredited, all girls college preparatory school, and has an exemplary education program, with numerous athletic and art opportunities. Our mission is to develop lifelong learners across multiple disciplines within a faith-based environment. In middle school, we will help your daughter pinpoint her strengths so she can become her personal best and be prepared for the rigor of our high school curriculum. In high school, internship opportunities, Advanced Placement courses, and dual credit courses will give students the advantage in preparing for college and life’s continuing journey.
Our Mission and Values
At Providence Catholic School, our mission and values can be condensed into four general areas:
These four principles are what the foundation of our school is built upon, and what our faculty, staff, and students are committed to upholding and following. Research has shown students who attend a single-gender high school outperform their peers in a coeducational setting. At our all girls school, we keep the focus on developing well-rounded, well-educated young women who are prepared for whatever the future holds.
In addition, families are also a key component in our students’ successes. Inviting parents to take a proactive role in their daughter’s education, as well as reiterating what is taught at home gives our college preparatory school a collaborative edge.
Develop Intellectual Curiosity
In order to develop well-rounded young ladies who are confident, and able to face the world of tomorrow, Providence enacts a rigorous yet rewarding academic program that is reinforced with spirituality, love and support. We want each of our students to excel personally, which is why we provide many curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular opportunities that encourage development of teamwork, leadership, and self. Academic excellence is our standard and we are dedicated to instilling girls with the focus and commitment needed to achieve it.
We have a 100% college and university acceptance rate.
Our full academic curriculum includes math, English, science, social studies, religion, as well as foreign languages, performing and visual arts. Our class sizes are kept small so there is a low teacher to student ratio. For more information, feel free to call us. We would be more than happy to answer your questions, schedule a tour of our facilities, or have you meet with our admissions team.
Faith is the
backbone in all that we do. It acts as a moral compass in all
life situations, including our academic setting. Our
Catholic preparatory school welcomes prayer, and
also offers religious retreats to better connect and understand
with God, yourself, and others. Theological studies are also
incorporated into lesson plans, and are taught by teachers who
model and support Catholic values. By nourishing faith, your
daughter will have an exceptional basis for achievement with the
skills necessary to become a responsible, good-natured young woman.
Catholic schools teach faith based education to
strengthen the values of your home.
Along with a faith-based environment, we also promote integrity in the forms of self-confidence and self-respect. To have respect and confidence in others in the community, your daughter must first have respect and confidence in herself. Our Catholic school teachers are sure to provide your daughter with the individual attention necessary to develop this sense of integrity. With a student-centric learning process, students learn to asses choices they make, and take ownership of their actions and outcomes.
Work for Justice
As one of the private schools downtown, we provide students with a close connection to the local community. Students should be informed of the needs in the local and global community.
Students are given the opportunities to be active participants in seeking justice, peace, and freedom.
As a very inclusive school, students will learn to accept others and embrace diversity.
